ABC’s Bachelor Franchise is grappling with its second injunction scandal this month. Following revelations about The Bachelorette Winner Devin Strader made headlines, this time the focus is on a 60-year-old candidate on The Golden BacheloretteAccording to a court filing in June, PeopleA woman who allegedly dated Gil Ramirez was granted a restraining order against him, citing “harassment – emotional.” A source close to The Golden Bachelorette told Vulture that “this lawsuit was filed in the short period of time between the completion of our thorough background investigation and comprehensive vetting process and the start of production.” (In other words, they say the show was unaware of it.) Here’s what we’ve learned so far, including what Ramirez was accused of, whether his airtime on the show will be reduced, and more.

According to his official bio, Ramirez is a 60-year-old educator who wants to “show the world that men in their golden years can be committed and want the same relationships as women.” He is from Mission Viejo, California. If you like the Golden Bachelorette You may remember the father of two throwing a ball to Joan Vassos at the premiere to make a dad joke about her being “a great catch.” He also taught her T-ball and was (spoiler!) one of 18 men who received a rose at the end of the premiere.

According to a June 11 court filing obtained by People And USA TodayAn alleged ex-girlfriend claimed that Ramirez had “repeatedly” made unwanted contact with her, her family and friends. This allegedly included “25 attempts daily via phone, text, video” and his personal appearances to “confront” her “daily” at locations she frequently visited, even though he lived an hour away from her. She claimed that Ramirez’s alleged emotional harassment had been going on for two weeks.

A judge granted her request for a temporary restraining order that same day, and a hearing was scheduled for July 2. PeopleThat date was postponed because the injunction could not be served on Ramirez. After a hearing rescheduled for July 24, the case was ultimately dismissed without prejudice – meaning it can be refiled – “for failure to prosecute for failure to serve.” The injunction was lifted.

Yes, although it sounds like he didn’t have much to begin with. A spring near The Golden Bachelorette told Vulture that the show had further cut Ramirez’s “already limited” screen time due to the “newly confirmed information” about the restraining order. The source added that he will also be “minimized” in future promotional materials.

Not that we know of. And on behalf of Joan and an already disgruntled Bachelor Nation, we hope it stays that way.

He is the other person in the Bachelor franchise recently linked to a restraining order. On September 16, Reality Steve broke the news that an ex-girlfriend had been granted a restraining order against Strader after he broke into her apartment in 2017. Multiple outlets later obtained court documents confirming this.

Per Weekly entertainmentThe ex’s petition included allegations that Strader put her in a “chokehold” and covered her mouth, “smashed” her bedroom window, spat on her and threw a drink at her at a sporting event. Strader denied in a statement that he ever “inappropriately laid hands on another person or treated my ex-girlfriend in any of the ways depicted.” The Bachelorette Winner also falsely claimed that the injunction was never granted, even though this is public knowledge. His lawyer later said EW that the restraining order was issued “purely based on unsubstantiated, written allegations” and “out of an abundance of caution.” The attorney added that Strader’s ex did not seek a full restraining order and that the couple mutually agreed to a no-contact agreement that expired after six months. Strader’s statement, meanwhile, said the relationship ultimately ended “on good terms” and that it was a “growth-building experience” for both of them.

Some fans pointed out Strader’s inclusion and eyed the Bachelor The franchise’s ability to identify and avoid potential red flags during casting. Regarding the order against Strader, a source close to the production said, EW“We take the safety of our participants very seriously and make every effort to screen them carefully. As extensive as our screening process is, this protective order did not come up in our research.”
