Mick Jagger and Melanie Hamrick have been together for 10 years now and age seems to be just a number to them.

In a new interview with The Times on September 21, Hamrick, 37, acknowledged the 44-year age difference between herself and Jagger, 81, and advised people to “mind their own business.”

“I don’t think about it. Everyone has their own opinion. If you think about other people’s opinions, no matter where you are in life, you will have a problem and analyze it,” she told the publication.

Hamrick continued, “I have blinders on. Am I happy? Yes. Are the people in my life happy? Yes. Am I hurting anyone? No. OK, they can mind their own business.”

The former ballerina and the legendary rock singer met 10 years ago at a Rolling Stones concert and now have a son together. Read on to learn more about Hamrick and their relationship.

According to The Times, the couple met at a Rolling Stones concert in Tokyo in February 2014.

Hamrick, then 26, was a dancer with the American Ballet Theatre in New York City, and the ballerinas were all given free tickets when they also performed in the Japanese capital. According to the publication, Jagger greeted her backstage with a fist bump before she performed.

In March 2014, fashion designer L’Wren Scott, Jagger’s girlfriend at the time, committed suicide at the age of 49, the BBC reported. At the time, Jagger was on tour in Australia with the Rolling Stones and issued a statement to the BBC saying he was “utterly shocked and devastated” by the loss.

The Times reported that Jagger and Hamrick began dating in the summer of 2014.

Jagger and Hamrick are not married, but The Times reported that the former dancer wore a “huge diamond engagement ring” during her interview. She noted that Jagger gave her the ring in 2023.

Hamrick also told the publication that she, Jagger and her son Devereaux had dental jewelry – although only Jagger’s contained diamonds.

The couple have one son together, 7-year-old Devereaux, who was born in December 2016.

“Melanie Hamrick and Mick Jagger’s son was born today in New York and they are both overjoyed,” a spokesperson for Jagger told TODAY.com at the time. “Mick was in the hospital for the birth. Mother and baby are doing well and we ask that the media respect their privacy at this time.”

Jagger and Devereaux were last seen watching a fencing match at the 2024 Paris Olympics. They were photographed at the Grand Palais in Paris on July 27.

Although the two only have Devereaux in common, Jagger has a total of eight children with five different women.

The “Satisfaction” singer has Karis, 53 (with actress and novelist Marsha Hunt); Jade, 52 (with model Bianca Jagger); Elizabeth, 40, James, 39, Georgia, 32, Gabriel, 26 (with model Jerry Hall), Lucas, 25 (with model Luciana Gimenez Morad); and Devereaux.

Melanie Hamrick was previously engaged

Before her relationship with Jagger, Hamrick was engaged to Cuban professional dancer Manuel Carreño, The Times reported.

In her September interview, Hamrick said a relationship with Jagger was “the perfect balance.”

“He’s not a ballet dancer, but he’s a dancer and an artist, and we understand each other’s world, but we don’t live in each other’s world,” she said.

Hamrick, who is from Williamsburg, Virginia, told the Times that she and her sister Rachel have been attending the prestigious Kirov Academy ballet boarding school in Washington, DC since they were 11 years old.

Hamrick retired from ballet in 2019 after 16 years with the American Ballet Theatre.

“Leaving it was definitely a difficult decision, but I felt like it was time,” she told TODAY in a June 2023 interview. “I was probably burned out from rushing back onstage too quickly (after giving birth) and trying to be Superwoman, and I thought, ‘You know what, I did a great job and it’s enough.'”

In an interview with the New York Times when she retired from the dance company, she said she wanted to do more choreography. Her social media account shows that she did indeed choreograph several dances and shows, but eventually turned to writing. Her time at the American Ballet Theatre served as inspiration for her erotic, dance-focused novels.

Hamrick published her debut novel, First Position, in June 2023, along with another novel, The Unraveling, just last month.

In her interview with TODAY in June 2023, she said that she finds the “ballet world incredibly beautiful and sexy.”

“I love reading romance novels, so I wondered why there wasn’t a romance novel set in ballet,” she added. “That’s something I’d love to read.”

In her interview with The Times, Hamrick added that she was “grateful” to have found her next step in writing books.

“I’m really grateful that I found writing. I see how some dancers persevere when they leave, and you just want them to find peace, because some dancers should be ballet dancers and some should move on,” she told the Times.

These days, Mick Jagger and Melanie Hamrick are constantly on the move, dividing their time mainly between a townhouse in London’s Chelsea district and a chateau on the Loire in France, according to The Times.
