The trial against Young DolphThe case against the alleged murderers was a bombshell when one of the defendants made a confession on the witness stand and even incriminated his co-defendant.
During his testimony on Monday Cornelius Smith admitted that he was indeed the man who fired the semi-automatic weapon in the November 2021 surveillance footage that showed the Memphis rap superstar. murder.
According to Smith, he had no emotions when he took Dolph’s life, he was just trying to line his pockets with cash – $100,000, to be exact, paid by Yo Gotti‘s now deceased brother Big Jook, who was himself murdered in January.

Smith also testified that Justin Johnson was his accomplice in the murder and accused him as the man who fired the gun. He also accused the other suspect Hernandez Govan as his former drug dealer and the person who told them that Jook had put a $100,000 bounty on Dolph.
Smith said he and Johnson had only known each other for “a few months” before the shooting, but the plan was for each of them to take $40,000 and give Govan $10,000.
His math skills aren’t great, as he left out $10,000 – but Smith says he only took home $800 in the end.
Smith says they followed Dolph before his Thanksgiving drive, eventually following him to his favorite cookie shop and opening fire. He testified, “I didn’t feel anything at the time. I just wanted to get money… I saw him standing at the window. I just got out of the car and started shooting.”

The hit wasn’t exactly gentle… Dolph’s brother returned fire, shooting Smith in the shoulder, arm and leg. He bled profusely and was able to treat himself with the help of a first aid kit in a nearby apartment.
Cornelius Smith (one of the shooters) testified that Big Jook shot $100,000 at the head of a young dolphin
He said they knew the young dolphin had a turkey instinct all week

After the murder was carried out, Smith said they told Big Jook the news via FaceTime, but ultimately he remembered to “follow his conscience” – hence his confession in court.
The trial was not expected to last longer than this week, and Smith’s testimony may explain why.
