I am pleased to introduce Tamara Smart, our Thalia Grace for the Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV show!

Tamara is just incredible. I can’t wait for you to see her in season two and hopefully beyond! For those of you who can join us at the virtual WRATH OF THE TRIPLE GODDESS events with Barnes & Noble (October 24) or Kepler’s (October 25), I’ll share more details about how we found Tamara and how we knew she was perfect for the role. BURBANK, Calif. (September 23, 2024) – Demigods, the wait is over! Disney+ has officially announced that Tamara Smart (“Resident Evil”) will join the cast of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” as popular character Thalia Grace, daughter of the sky god Zeus. Smart will appear as a recurring guest star in season two of the epic adventure series, alongside series regulars Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn and Daniel Diemer.

Season two of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is based on Sea of ​​Monsters, the second book in the bestselling Percy Jackson book series from Disney Hyperion by acclaimed author Rick Riordan. Thalia is the demigod daughter of Zeus who made her last stand to protect her friends on the outskirts of Camp Half-Blood. Rather than let her die, Zeus turned her into a tree that anchors the force field that protects the camp. Tough and prickly, Thalia is fiercely loyal to her friends and distrustful of her father’s world.

Riordan added, “Thalia Grace is one of the most important characters in the Percy Jackson universe, so casting her right was crucial. Thalia is a powerful warrior, a fiercely loyal friend, and a demigod rebel with a distinct punk/rage-against-the-machine sensibility. When we saw Tamara Smart in this role, we knew immediately we had found our daughter of Zeus. She was, no pun intended, electrifying. Tamara brings the grace that Thalia Grace needs!”

Smart’s connection to the role of Thalia is particularly poignant as she previously worked with the late Lance Reddick, who played Zeus in the first season of the Disney+ original series. Coincidentally, Smart also played Reddick’s daughter in that previous project. Speaking of the connection, Smart said, “I am so grateful and excited to be joining the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. It is so close to my heart. Lance Reddick and I have always talked about working together again, so to play his daughter once again as Thalia and keep his memory alive is all the more special and important to me. I feel his presence all around me and strive to make him proud on this exciting journey.”

Production of the second season of the Disney+ original series from Disney Branded Television and 20th Television is currently underway in Vancouver and is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in 2025. The first season of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is now available on Disney+.
