Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick hopes fans will overlook this Borderland‘ poor reviews. The film was produced in part by Gearbox, the video game company that owns the franchise. Take-Two bought Gearbox itself, giving it additional insight into the franchise. The film is an adaptation of their video game series and features an all-star cast including Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Jamie Lee Curtis, and more respected actors. Despite the respected cast, many of the Borderland The reviews reflect a fast-paced film that critics can’t stand.
At the time of writing, the film has a Tomatometer score of 10% on Rotten Tomatoes and an audience score of 50%. This is a disappointing result, but Zelnick does not believe it will have an impact on the property or Take-Two at all. In an interview with IGNZelnick explained that the gaming company will continue to explore video game movies, regardless Borderland‘ reception, although he still hopes that viewers will see the film.
