Looking ahead to the 2024 season, many speculated that Las Vegas Raiders star receiver Davante Adams was a hot candidate for a trade at the deadline, but some in the NFL do not believe that is the case.

In an analytics poll conducted by ESPN’s Seth Walder, one NFL executive who rated the likelihood of Adams being traded this year at the low end of the scale said teams across the league had already missed their chance to convince the Raiders to trade him.

“It’s kind of the difference between what should happen and what I think will happen,” the employee said. “The best time to sell Davante has probably already passed.”

Another voter expressed his pessimism about an Adams transfer by telling Walder, “I think the worst thing is that (general manager) Tom Telesco doesn’t trade very much.”

Still, 85 percent of the vote on whether Adams would be traded was on the most likely side. There was also speculation over the summer that he could be traded to the New York Jets for a reunion with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but Telesco dismissed those rumors in July.

Adams is the best player on the Raiders team that isn’t expected to compete for a playoff spot in the highly competitive AFC, so it would be worth considering whether trading him away and reacquiring assets to build for the future might not be the best option for the franchise.
