Kansas City Chiefs make MAJOR lineup change ahead of Sunday night’s clash with Atlanta Falcons – as a core player is removed from the team

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid flexed his muscles and made big changes to his lineup ahead of today’s clash with the Atlanta Falcons.

The Super Bowl champions enter their Week 3 prime-time showdown at Mercedes-Benz Stadium with a 2-0 record, but have not been at their best so far.

To change that, Reid made a bold decision and tried to provide more protection for quarterback Patrick Mahomes by bringing in a new left tackle and a blindside protector.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, second-year offensive lineman Wanya Morris will start the game, replacing second-round rookie Kingsley Suamataia, who is on the bench.

Suamataia was selected by BYU as the No. 63 overall pick in the draft and impressed enough in training camp to start in Week 1.

In Week 2 against the Bengals, however, he struggled and allowed Trey Hendrickson to sack Mahomes twice.

He was ultimately taken out of the game and it is clear that he will not compete in prime time Sunday night in Atlanta.

Coach Reid did not announce the decision during his press conference on Friday, only telling reporters that both tackles were fit and ready to play.

He explained that the reason for Suamataia’s withdrawal from the game was that the newcomer “had to take a step back to take a step forward”.

He added: “We have not lost confidence in him. He played against a good player and must learn from it.”
