Justin Simmons – Villain Falcons must defeat Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs

The Atlanta Falcons face another tough task in Week 3. On Sunday Night Football, they will face one of the best quarterbacks in the league: Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

In his eight-year career, he has undoubtedly made a name for himself as one of the all-time greats. However, for every superhero, there is a villain who seems to get on his nerves. Everyone has their kryptonite, from the cartoons Batman and Joker to Tom and Jerry to the NFL rivalries of legends Tom Brady and Ray Lewis.

For Mahomes, safety Justin Simmons is his kryptonite. Simmons is one of the newest members of the Atlanta organization, but Mahomes knows him very well from his previous time with the Denver Broncos, the Chiefs’ rivals in the AFC West.

Safety Justin Simmons leads all active NFL players with five career interceptions against the three-time Super Bowl champions.

In 2024, the mission is still the same, because tonight marks the start of one of the biggest games in the recent history of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

With a win over head coach Andy Reid’s team, the Falcons could improve their season record to 2-1 and start the Raheem Morris era with a bang after two prime-time wins.

However, like last week, they have to do their best and the All-Pro safety knows that.

“We have dreams and goals to get to the playoffs. To get further, you have to face teams like that, right? Like Philly last week and the Chiefs this week. We play against really good offenses and say we want to be the best and beat the best, and that has to happen on Sunday,” Simmons said.

For a player who decided to stay with the Falcons this offseason, this game is crucial to establishing a team culture focused on making the playoffs.

He recently told the “Up & Adams Show” with Kay Adams that the important football games in December and January were a big reason why he joined the team.

“I wanted to make sure I was going to a place where everyone wants to go,” Simmons told Adams. “Because in my eight years, I haven’t been to the playoffs, and that’s at the top of my bucket list right now. I just want to play meaningful football in December and January.”

These important football matches have already started between last week and this evening.
