Samuel L. Jackson opens “Sunday Night Football” with a tribute to the Falcons

While promoting his new show in Atlanta, Samuel L. Jackson supports the Falcons on their home turf.

The honorary Oscar winner will appear this weekend in a cinematic opening sequence for Football on Sunday eveningAiring at 7:00 p.m. ET on NBC on Peacock as the home team takes on the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

“The challenges come at you fast and furious… especially when they’re Kelce and Mahomes,” he says at the start.

Jackson continues, “It’s about fighting with everything you have to survive… and taking advantage of the nights when everyone is talking about you differently… nights like this where you play hard, hit hard and prevail!”

During the segment, Jackson also recalls selling drinks at the Falcons’ former Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium in the 1960s. Before becoming an actor, he studied acting at Morehouse College in Atlanta.

Jackson and Fight Night Executive producer Will Packer is also expected to be in attendance at Sunday’s game.

Based on iHeart’s acclaimed true crime podcast. Fight Night follows the infamous story of how an armed robbery on the night of Muhammad Ali’s historic comeback fight in 1970 not only changed one man’s life, but ultimately transformed Atlanta into the “Mecca of Black People.”

Fight Night also stars Kevin Hart (also an EP), Taraji P. Henson, Don Cheadle and Terrence Howard. New episodes are available Thursdays on Peacock.
