East Carolina CB Shavon Revel Jr., considered a first-round pick in the NFL Draft, suffers a torn ACL in training

East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel Jr., considered one of the top NFL Draft prospects at his position, tore his ACL during practice this week and will miss the rest of the season.

The game in which Revel injured his left knee was described as a “freaky injury,” according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Revel was listed as the No. 5 cornerback and No. 35 overall player on the 2025 NFL Draft big board by Nate Tice of Yahoo Sports.

“Revel has the ideal size and length for a starting outside cornerback in the NFL. He is quick on his feet and can start and stop quickly to keep up with receivers.”

Other draft experts have Revel rated even higher. ESPN’s Mel Kiper has him as the No. 2 CB and No. 16 player overall. Dane Brugler of The Athletic has Revel as the No. 4 CB and No. 12 player overall.

During his three seasons at East Carolina, Revel has recorded 70 tackles, one sack and three interceptions on 15 passes defended. Two of those interceptions came this season, one of which was returned for a 50-yard touchdown against Appalachian State.

Revel was named to the All-AAC second team last season, making him a popular transfer target for SEC and Big Ten schools. However, the senior stayed at East Carolina, where he was offered a scholarship after playing junior college football at Louisburg College and impressing coaches at an ECU camp with a 4.4-second 40-yard dash time, ESPN reports.
