PROVO, Utah – The BYU football team won’t be the only ones wearing throwback uniforms Saturday night against No. 13 Kansas State.
Along with the football team, the BYU cheerleaders also get into the retro mood.
While the football team will wear retro uniforms from the 1996 season, the BYU cheerleading team will also wear retro cheerleading uniforms from the 1996 season.
Retro uniforms for BYU cheerleaders against Kansas State
The Cotton Bowl, which capped BYU’s magical 14-1 season, was the last time BYU faced Kansas State in football.
Below you can see a video of BYU’s cheerleading outfits from the 1996 season.
The only difference is that the female cheerleaders in the 1996 version wore blue skirts, while the Saturday Night Fever throwbacks are royal blue.
BYU football will wear an all-white retro uniform
The BYU football team will wear all-white throwback jerseys against Kansas State. The Wildcats will wear their purple home jerseys for their first visit to Provo since 1977.
Members of the 1996 Cotton Bowl-winning BYU team will also be honored during Saturday night’s game at LaVell Edwards Stadium.
The BYU Cheer Squad has recently become one of the best cheerleading teams in the country. Last April, they took second place in the Game Day Division at the National Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida, behind only the University of Michigan.
