In a meeting that had College Football Playoff implications, No. 12 Utah defeated No. 14 Oklahoma State by a final score of 22-19.

Saturday afternoon’s game began as a defensive battle, as only one touchdown was scored in the first three quarters. Utes quarterback Cam Rising was ruled out before the game due to a hand injury after attempting a throw, leaving true freshman Isaac Wilson to start for the second straight game.

Wilson, the younger brother of Denver Broncos quarterback Zach Wilson, played against Oklahoma State.

He wasn’t quite as polished as his three-touchdown performance in a win over Utah State on Sept. 14, but he still looked comfortable in the pocket and made good plays with his legs. Wilson finished the game completing 17 of 29 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown, along with two interceptions and another 41 yards on the ground.

The fans were impressed by his performance.

Things will get really interesting in the future if True newcomer Isaac Wilson can take the win in Stillwater.

Utah’s offense was led by Micah Bernard. The senior running back rushed for 182 yards on 25 carries and helped the Utes keep the clock under control throughout the game.

Seventh-year senior Alan Bowman started at quarterback for Oklahoma State, but was taken out of the game early in the second half after the Cowboys were only able to score three points.

Substitute Garret Rangel initially replaced him at quarterback, but head coach Mike Gundy sent Bowman back into the game because Rangel only successfully completed three of his eleven pass attempts.

Bowman led the Cowboys back from a 22-3 deficit in the fourth quarter to trail by three points with less than two minutes left in the game, but Utah ran out the clock on its final possession.

He finished the game completing 16 of 33 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns and throwing two interceptions.

After a 3-0 start to the year, Utah picked up its first Big 12 win of the season on Saturday. The Utes will look to remain undefeated in their next game, a matchup with Arizona on Sept. 28.
