Anthony Joshua is ready to kick off after losing to Daniel Dubois in Wembley fight

Anthony Joshua has revealed he is ready to “go for it” following his loss to Daniel Dubois, but managed to keep his cool after being outclassed at Wembley on Saturday night.

The Watford-born star was knocked down in four of the five rounds in the capital, while his 27-year-old rival secured the biggest win of his career.


Immediately after the fight, Joshua was asked about his defeat.

And although he said he was ready for “kick-off,” the 34-year-old showed a certain class by congratulating Dubois on his victory.

“The credit goes to him and his team. We put everything into success, but it didn’t work out,” he said.

“They know I’m ready to go in the ring, but I’m going to stay calm, be very professional and show respect to my opponent.

“I always tell myself that I am a fighter for life… We keep rolling the dice.

“I had a tough opponent, a fast opponent and a lot of mistakes on my part, but that’s the game.”

“It was the first round (that was his downfall), after that he fought with heart and desire.

“I’m so proud because he never gave up. His legs deceived him and he kept trying.

“When you’re in there with a massive puncher, that’s what can happen. He never stopped trying to get up, even when he couldn’t get up.

“Daniel deserves recognition, he is a real world champion. Congratulations to him.”

While it was a crushing defeat for Joshua, it was a breathtaking evening for Dubois.

And the younger man was overjoyed after his victory and said: “I am the man.

“A mixture of emotions. I can’t say much at the moment.

“I’m fighting for all the glory. For me, I’m the hunter and I have to hunt.”
