Matt Reeves confirms that the script for “Batman Part II” is finished

As fans re-immerse themselves in the crime-ridden world of Gotham City in HBO’s new series, The PenguinDirector Matt Reeves recently gave an exciting update on the long-awaited sequel to The Batmanfilming is reportedly set to begin in 2025.




According to Entertainment Weekly Reeves announced that the script for Batman – Part II is officially completed, filming is scheduled to begin in 2025. While the acclaimed director did not want to give away too much about the plot of the sequel, he gave a foretaste that “There is a period of time” in which the sequel will take place after the events of The Batman and the spin-off series which is now streaming on Max. It has already been reported that Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobb in Batman – Part IIand Reeves also revealed a little more about his involvement in the sequel.”Oz becomes one of the entry points into the film,” Reeves said. “I can’t tell you where it goes from here, other than we’re super excited about it..”


The Batman was another success for Reeves, who had completed the reboot Planet of the Apes trilogy before diving into the world of Gotham. The film was a box office hit, grossing $772.2 million worldwide and receiving widespread praise from critics and fans alike. The Batman stars Robert Pattinso as Bruce Wayne/The Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Jeffrey Wright as Lt. James Gordon, Farrell as the Penguin, Paul Dano as the Riddler, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone and Andy Serkis as Alfred.

Although Reeves is not directly directing the newly released spinoff series, he serves as a producer and has worked to get this series off the ground for many years since its release. The Batman. The Penguin from HBO takes place just a week after the events of the film starring Pattinson, but Reeves doesn’t want that to be a barrier to entry for those who haven’t checked out yet The BatmanHe explains that the spinoff series was conceived as a standalone project and that “it is more like it takes place in the same world.” Reeves further explained that the series serves, in some ways, as an investigation into the reasons for the corruption in Gotham, with the Penguin serving as a symbol of what is wrong in the city.


When you look at the whole thing, it is an epic narrative and a meditation on corruption and why Gotham is the way it issaid Reeves. “When I talk about the other shows we want to do, it’s exciting to think about taking a different path that we can take with The Penguin And The Batman.” The Penguin Farrell returns in the title role, alongside an all-star cast that includes Cristin Milioti, Mark Strong, Theo Rossi, David H. Holmes and Clancy Brown. The first episode is available to stream now on Max.


Batman – Part II will be released in theaters on October 2, 2026.
