Injury report: Springfield remains out as Cowboys open Big 12 play against Utah

The Cowboys will once again be without right tackle Jake Springfield when the Pokes host the Utes in their Big 12 opener.

Springfield also missed the Cowboys’ 45-10 win over Tulsa last weekend. The Cowboys are also without Collin Oliver and Justin Wright. All of this is Dave Hunziker’s statement.

Springfield has made 40 career appearances this season. Hunziker said his injury will be evaluated week-to-week. In Springfield’s place, the Cowboys will use Isaia Glass, who transferred from Arizona State. Before Springfield’s injury, Glass split time at left tackle with Dalton Cooper. In 67 snaps at right tackle last weekend, Glass posted a 65.3 score, according to Pro Football Focus. Glass allowed one pressure in 40 pass-blocking snaps, according to PFF.

The biggest injury concern in this game, however, concerns the status of Utah quarterback Cam Rising. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Saturday morning that Rising would not be used until shortly before the game began. At the time of writing, Rising is doing light warm-ups while wearing a glove on his throwing hand.

Oklahoma State and Utah will face off at 3 p.m. at Boone Pickens Stadium. The game will be broadcast on FOX.
