Shaboozey finds himself on a long and lonely road in the new video for “Highway,” the rising country star’s latest single from his album Where I was is not where I am going.

The picture shows Shaboozey walking Paris, Texas-style through the scenic heartland after a breakup, guitar in hand. His solo journey takes him to the back of pickup trucks, to small-town fairs, rest stops, and finally to an empty prairie at sunset, where he sings “Highway” next to a campfire.

“Highway”, which Shaboozey performed The Late Show The singer/rapper’s follow-up single to his number one hit “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” will be released at the beginning of the month. Both tracks will be released on Where I was is not where I am goingwhich arrived in May.

In a review of Shaboozey’s new LP, Rolling StoneDavid Browne of The New York wrote that the musician “comes across as someone who grew up on country and also appreciates hip-hop. In doing so, he has effectively changed the rules of the game.” Cowboy Carter (where he had two cameos) was the first hit that redefined and modernized country music, but Shaboozey’s second album is a veritable barrage of all those possibilities.”

Earlier this month, the singer also received his first CMA Awards nomination for Best New Artist and Single of the Year for his chart-topping hit “Tipsy (A Bar Song).”

Shaboozey hit the road earlier this month in support of the album, with a North American tour that includes stops in Chicago, Toronto, Boston, Brooklyn and other cities.
