ESPN’s College GameDay returns to Tuscaloosa for Alabama-Georgia game

The No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide will enjoy the first of two weeks off this Saturday as the program prepares for its top game next week against the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs. The week off will give Alabama and Georgia a chance to rest and watch the rest of the college football world collide before the programs grab the nation’s attention in Week 5.

ESPN’s College GameDay has announced that it will be in Tuscaloosa next week to broadcast from the University of Alabama campus ahead of the SEC showdown. The ESPN team of Desmond Howard, Rece Davis, Pat McAfee, Nick Saban and Kirk Herbstreit will preview the most important matchups of Week 5 while also getting viewers in the mood for tonight’s clash between Alabama and Georgia.

It will be the 19th visit to The Capstone since the program first made the trip in 1993, with Alabama holding a 10-8 record in the previous 18 games. The Crimson Tide tied 1-1 on GameDay in the city in 2023 with a win over LSU but a loss to Texas. Alabama has appeared in the main game of ESPN’s most prominent pregame broadcast a total of 58 times, posting a 37-21 record when it was in the spotlight.

Coach Kalen DeBoer and his 2023 Washington Huskies appeared twice on ESPN College GameDay, defeating Oregon 36-33 as a home team and losing 34-13 to Michigan in the national title game.

This is Saban’s first trip as a member of the media. He led Alabama to a 34-15 score and LSU to a 4-0 score on ESPN’s College GameDay.
