Liverpool injury: Alisson Becker’s participation in Bournemouth questionable

According to Liverpool manager Arne Slot, goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s participation in Saturday’s Premier League match against Bournemouth is doubtful due to muscle problems.

Alisson has played in all four of the Anfield side’s league games this season and was in goal for the team’s Champions League win over AC Milan on Tuesday.

In the summer and during the recent international break, he also played for Brazil at the Copa America.

When asked about the expanded schedule ahead of the game in Milan, the 31-year-old said that “nobody asks the players” about their workload.

“It is questionable whether Alisson will be able to train on Friday,” said Slot.

“If he can’t do that, he probably won’t play. We’ll have to wait and see.”

Alisson was then not seen during a training session accessible to certain media with Caoimhin Kelleher and Vitezslav Jaros in goal.

Kelleher deputised for Alisson when the Brazilian, who made 42 appearances for his club and country last season, was out for more than two months.

“He (Alisson) has a small problem with one of his muscles and we are wondering whether this game is too early or not,” Slot added.

“He didn’t get it in the game against Milan, it had happened to him before, but after the game against Milan he felt it more and more.

“We have to wait and see whether he will be in goal on Saturday or whether we have to wait a few more days.”
