Jaime Munguia vs. Erik Bazinyan Results: Winners, Highlights, Reactions

Jaime Munguia is back in full force. Four months after the only loss of his professional career to Canelo Alvarez, Munguia returned to the ring on Friday night to score a dramatic 10th-round knockout victory over Erik Bazinyan at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

Munguia looked as tough as ever, firing bombs to knock Bazinyan out in the 10th frame. Before the knockout punch landed, Munguia’s attack on Bazinyan’s body was a major factor.

He knocked Bazinyan down before landing a decisive blow that sent Munguia’s combative opponent into the ropes, where he landed shortly after the attack.

Here is a look at Munguia’s KO victory.

After losing to Canelo, Munguia is back on the winning track and the last five fights of his career look strong from top to bottom.

Here’s a look at the last five results of his career.

What’s next for Jaime Munguia?

Munguia should have some impressive options. Even though he lost to Canelo, most would say he did well in that fight. Now with this exciting win over Bazinyan, Munguia has gained some momentum.

After the fight, Munguia talked about potentially facing other former Canelo opponents such as Caleb Plant and Edgar Berlanga. Both men faced Canelo and lost, just like Munguia.

There would be some interest in a fight between Berlanga and Munguia and perhaps even a duel with Plant.

One has to wonder if Munguia would ever consider fighting David Benavidez, who unsuccessfully chased a fight with Canelo for over a year.

If Munguia were to take this fight and win, it would be a huge boost to his brand while also helping to further cement his place in the hearts of diehard Mexican boxing fans.

Bazinyan has no reason to hang his head. He forced Munguia to work for the KO and he had his moments with a top-notch fighter.

In any case, Munguia’s win increased his record to 44-1 with 35 KOs, while Bazinyan dropped to 32-1-1 with 23 KOs.
