The USC football team begins its Big Ten era against a familiar opponent.
The No. 12 Trojans (2-0) are fresh off their week off and begin their first season in the new conference with a Big Ten road game against No. 17 Michigan (2-1) at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich. It’s the Wolverines’ second top-20 matchup in three weeks, and they’ll be looking to get a better result than when Texas knocked them off.
USC and Michigan’s programs are familiar with each other. The Trojans and Wolverines have faced each other 10 times in their respective histories, eight of which have been in the Rose Bowl. USC leads the overall standings at 6-4, including a 32-14 victory over Michigan in the 2007 Rose Bowl.

Michigan is coming off a 28-18 win over Arkansas State in Week 3 while USC was on a bye. While the Wolverines rebounded from a non-competitive loss to the Longhorns in Week 2, the offense faltered as quarterback Davis Warren threw three interceptions against the Red Wolves. Warren, who has six interceptions in three games, was benched for this week’s game in favor of Alex Orji.
The Trojans opened the season with 27-21 and 48-0 wins over LSU and Utah State, respectively. Quarterback Miller Moss, who replaced 2022 Heisman Trophy winner and 2024 NFL Draft first-rounder Caleb Williams, has completed 48 of 66 passes for 607 yards and two touchdowns this season.
