Clemson Tigers coach Dabo Swinney is known for his folksy, down-to-earth demeanor. Every now and then, he’ll tell a funny story or throw in a witty anecdote that people will pick up as a soundbite.

If there is such a thing as a “Dabo’s greatest hits” compilation, his story of how he spent last Saturday could be on it.

During his weekly press conference with reporters on Tuesday, Swinney became agitated when asked about his college football viewing habits since the Tigers have a week three off.

Swinney’s response, which touched on the intricacies of game streaming on his smartphone and other devices, provided a moment of hilarity.

“Man, I’m telling you, I’m a huge YouTube TV fan now,” Swinney said excitedly. “I finally figured out how to get the damn app on my phone. It’s like an act of Congress. I mean, you need like birth certificates and all kinds of stuff to get some of these things. I don’t know all these codes: ‘Who’s your provider?’ It has some really crazy stuff on it.”

“I had my phone on,” Swinney continued, demonstrating with his hands for full effect. “I had my four-screen iPad on, and I had the TV on. I imagine some of you probably did the same thing — because that’s what you do for a living, right? You all have to know what the heck is going on. And we had a lot of teams that we’re going to play, and that’s really what I did all day. I just watched ball all day, and it was great. Saw some good stuff, some bad stuff. Just enjoyed it.”

One of the teams Swinney was watching was NC State, the Tigers’ opponent this Saturday. The Wolfpack defeated Louisiana Tech 30-20 and will open ACC play with a 2-1 overall record.

Kickoff for Clemson vs. NC State is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on ABC and also streamed.
