Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes have an exciting SmackDown meeting on the Georgia Tech football field

There are still nearly two weeks until Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes are scheduled to face Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu at Bad Blood, but the excitement is already incredibly high. Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown illustrated the complicated relationship between the Original Tribal Chief and The American Nightmare with a segment filmed at Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium, where both the champion and ex-champion have their roots.

Reigns and Rhodes opened the segment by discussing their history with the stadium. Reigns recalled his time with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team, while Rhodes spoke at length about his family’s roots in the Georgia wrestling scene.

“Several generations of my family have bled for this city and in this city,” Rhodes said. “This is your field, but this is my home.”

Reigns quickly turned the conversation to her upcoming match against Sikoa’s new Bloodline at Bad Blood. Reigns highlighted that Rhodes had “everything” to lose, while all of the Bloodline members involved – old and new – had “nothing” to lose.

“For the first time in a long time, there is no burden on my neck. It’s on yours,” Reigns reminded Rhodes.

Their segment reached its climax when Rhodes asked Reigns to give him “his word,” or a promise from Reigns that their current tensions would resolve their tag team unit with Bad Blood. Reigns reluctantly agreed, but made it very clear that he was not done with Rhodes. Reigns expressed a desire to regain the WWE Universal Championship, to which Rhodes reminded him that the title was “not within (Reigns’) grasp.”

“You’re in my way, man,” Reigns finished. “You’re in my way in life.”

Reigns and Rhodes became an unlikely tag team when the match was made official on the September 13 episode of SmackDown. Although Rhodes wants to put the Bloodline behind him, it looks like he will have to deal with a vengeful “Original Tribal Chief” after taking out Sikoa and Fatu.
