TCU crushes ACC in games on The CW Network

TCU chose violence on Friday.

Or, more specifically, the Horned Frogs’ social media team. TCU plays at SMU on Saturday in a matchup between two 2-1 teams from the Lone Star State. It will be the Horned Frogs’ second meeting with an ACC opponent this season, but it will be their first game on The CW Network.

They don’t seem particularly enthusiastic about it.

On Friday morning, the TCU Football Twitter account shared a video showing a player in full uniform sitting on the phone while Paula Cole’s “I Don’t Want to Wait” plays as hold music – a song that served as the theme song for Dawson’s Creek. The title of the video is “One Treefrog Hill” and refers to another famous drama on the channel.

“This is SportsCenter,” the video says. “Well… unfortunately this is CW. Thanks, ACC.”

That’s petty of TCU, but the frustration is understandable. The TCU brand is so strong that it attracted a Friday night game to open the season, then played behind the ESPN+ paywall in Week 2. In Week 3, it played on FOX in front of a national audience and blew a 31-13 lead. Oops.

SMU hasn’t been that great this season, though.

The Mustangs opened their debut season in the ACC with a 29-24 win over Nevada, temporarily benching their starting quarterback. On Friday, September 6, they lost 18-15 to BYU in a game in which they failed to score a single offensive touchdown.

Now the 103rd meeting of the Iron Skillet has lost some of its fascination. Nevertheless, it is the first time that both schools are members of a power conference. TCU is a slight favorite in this duel with 2 points (ESPN Bet). Kickoff is at 5 p.m. ET on CW. The defeated fan base can expect a Supernatural repeat to relieve the pain.
