Racist CNN panelist flirts with Nancy Mace after calling her a racist on live TV

During a hearing before the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, Republican Rep. Nancy Mace had flirtatious text messages allegedly sent to her by CNN panelist and Vanderbilt professor Michael Eric Dyson entered into the congressional record.

The exchange followed Dyson’s public criticism of Mace in a CNN segment in August, in which he accused her of parroting “white supremacist language” because of her mispronunciation of Vice President Kamala Harris’ name.

Mace defended herself by pointing to several public figures, including Bill Clinton and Joe Biden, who also mispronounced Harris’ name, and called the outrage “inauthentic.” She also highlighted Dyson’s inconsistency, reading texts in which he complimented her on her appearance and sent her a kiss emoji after his public criticism.

“My colleagues across the aisle have said that those who cannot pronounce Kamala’s name correctly are elementary school-aged children. I would like to put on the record an article from Newsweek that said Bill Clinton mispronounced Kamala Harris’ name during his speech to the Democrat,” Mace said.

“Bill Clinton, Al Sharpton, rapper Lil John — let’s not forget that Joe Biden can’t pronounce her name properly, and neither can Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor,” Mace continued. “And this morning on ‘Morning Joe,’ Joan Baez called her a camel. I don’t want to hear that. That’s fake outrage.”

The MP then held up alleged screenshots of text messages Dyson had sent her in which he called her “stunning” after accusing her of parroting white supremacist language.

“I also want to put on the record a screenshot of a text message I received after my CNN interview from esteemed Vanderbilt professor Michael Eric Dyson, who asked me for photos. In that message, after calling me a racist on CNN, he says, ‘Shh, don’t tell anyone, we look good together.’ And he sent me a kiss emoji,” Mace said.

“The guy says I look stunning in all these photos. I don’t think he cares that much how someone pronounces Kamala,” Mace said. “And if we’re going to have that standard, we have to hold it to both sides, not just one or the other.”

On the August 15 CNN broadcast, Dyson said Mace was disrespectful to Harris by “saying you can call her whatever you want,” and said he believes this behavior has to do with the “history and legacy of white people’s disregard for the humanity of black people.”

Mace had previously clashed with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos in March for “shaming” her as a rape victim during a heated debate about her political decisions.

Neither Mace’s office nor CNN immediately responded to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
