Even though the summer season is coming to an end, temperatures are still dangerously high today.
The National Weather Service has issued an urgent heat warning for Friday, September 20, from noon to 8 p.m.
The heat index is expected to reach 107° across Oklahoma. The NWS recommends drinking plenty of fluids and staying indoors with air conditioning to avoid heat illness caused by hot temperatures and high humidity.
Another hot and humid afternoon is expected today (Friday), with heat index readings above 104°F forecast for the eastern half of Oklahoma and northern Texas. Those planning to spend time outdoors should take precautions. #okwx #texomawx pic.twitter.com/HTdfGWWri3
