Sean “Diddy” Combs is on suicide watch during sex trafficking trial

Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly been placed on suicide watch after he was denied bail following his arrest on sex trafficking and organized crime charges on Monday.

Sources told People on Thursday that the decision was made for “preventive reasons” “as Combs is in shock and his mental state is unclear.”

According to the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Institute of Corrections, suicide watch refers to “supervision measures for inmates at risk of suicide that require frequent observation.”

Combs’ representative and attorney, as well as the New York Department of Justice, did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

The controversial 54-year-old music mogul is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The prison, which opened in 1994 and houses more than 1,200 people, is known for violence, filthy conditions, contaminated food and suicides, the New York Times reported.

In July, an inmate died as a result of a fight at the Metropolitan Detention Center, which his lawyer described as “an overcrowded, understaffed and neglected federal prison that is hell on earth.”

The Bad Boy Records founder was charged Tuesday in federal court in Lower Manhattan with sex trafficking, organized crime and transportation for the purpose of prostitution.

In a 14-page indictment, prosecutors accused Combs of “creating a criminal organization whose members and accomplices were involved in sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice.”

The indictment also states that federal agents discovered drugs, more than 1,000 bottles of lubricant and three AR-15s during raids on his Miami and Los Angeles mansions in March.

Combs pleaded not guilty to all three counts.

“Mr. Combs is a fighter … he is not afraid of the charges,” the rapper’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, told reporters after the arraignment on Tuesday.

“He was looking forward to this day; he was looking forward to clearing his name. He didn’t do those things.”

The hip-hop mogul has been battling a growing list of legal problems over the past year after his ex-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura sued him for rape and abuse in November 2023.

Although they settled out of court in less than 24 hours, Combs was subsequently inundated with sexual harassment lawsuits from other alleged victims.

He has protested his innocence.
