Jelly Roll gives newlyweds from Louisiana $10,000 at Cajundome show

Lafayette, LA – Louisiana couple Aiden Sanders and Anna Claire Wilson were married on Friday the 13th, considered the unluckiest day of the year. To celebrate, the newlyweds went to Jelly Roll’s show at the Cajundome, part of the Beautifully Broken Tour.

During the performance of “Son of a Sinner,” the singer noticed a sign in the front row that read “Just Married.” When Jelly Roll realized the couple had gotten married that day and congratulated them, he asked them what they were planning for their honeymoon. Since the couple had eloped, they admitted they had no plans.

“Tell you what. I’ll give you $10,000 if it’s okay with you,” Jelly Roll said. “And the deal is, I only want videos, baby.”

Jelly Roll is known for his generosity and goodwill. Earlier this year, he helped open a music studio at the Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center, where he was once incarcerated.

In an interview with People magazine, the singer said, “It’s important, man. I think it’s important that we give back, especially to our kids,” he said. “Man, our youth are so impressionable and the old quote is, ‘None of them asked to be here.’ They were born into the situation they were in and sometimes they can’t see beyond that situation or that neighborhood or that environment. I just hope to bring hope to that situation and be a kind of beacon and light for those kids.”
