Clinton guarantees that Harris will win against Trump with the most votes: “I have no doubts”

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton confidently predicted Thursday that Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Governor Tim Walz, would win a majority of the vote in November, citing her own victory in the 2016 majority vote.

“I think the challenge, as in many other elections, is to win the Electoral College. I have no doubt that the Harris-Walz campaign, as well as my campaign, will win the majority of the vote, but I think, as we all know, that’s not how you win the election. You have to win 270 electoral votes,” Clinton said during an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Clinton has made several recent media appearances to promote her new book, “Something Lost, Something Gained,” and she recently told podcast host Kara Swisher that it’s a “double standard” when people ask Harris about political issues.

During the interview on MSNBC, she elaborated, saying, “I had more policies than anyone else.”

“I’ve given speeches about it. It’s been on our website. I wrote a book about it with Tim Kaine. We’ve had a lot of political engagement. At the end of the day, it wasn’t what made people vote for me or against me, and I think the Harris campaign knows that. They know you have to cross a threshold, and they’ve more than done that when it comes to what kind of governance you promise,” Clinton said.

Clinton said Harris’ political views can be found on her website.

In her interview with Swisher, Clinton said that as a female presidential candidate, she would face double standards.

“I think it’s, um, you know, it’s a double standard, and that double standard is partly because they’re still getting to know her. But also because they’re still grappling with the thought of, ‘Oh, am I really going to vote for a woman as president and commander in chief?'” she said.

Clinton then took aim at Trump, praising MSNBC for making clear what was at stake in the election.

“This is a battle between freedom and oppression, between democracy and autocracy, between bringing people together and further dividing them. And that’s what needs to be communicated every day from now until the election. And I would just add that I think you’re all doing a great job of talking about the stakes. Not just the horse race, but the stakes of the election, and painting a picture for people of what Trump is promising to do,” Clinton said.

Clinton suggested that Harris focus on the “choice” between Trump and herself, saying that if she did so, she would win the election.
