12 minutes of new trailers from D23

D23: The ultimate Disney fan event will take place in Anaheim, California, from August 9 to 11, 2024. As part of the weekend convention program, trailers and news about upcoming Disney films, series and cinema productions were revealed on the first day as part of a presentation entitled “Disney Entertainment Showcase”.

Here are all the publicly released D23 trailers:

Trailer for “Agatha All Along” D23

In Agatha All Along, the infamous Agatha Harkness is left devastated and powerless after a suspicious goth teen helps her break free from a twisted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to lead him down the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical challenge where if a witch survives, she is rewarded with what she has been missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious teen assemble a desperate coven and set off, ever further down the road.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ epic animated musical Moana 2 reunites Moana (voice of Auli’i Cravalho) and Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson) three years later for a new, expansive voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her pioneering ancestors, Moana must journey to the distant seas of Oceania and dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike any she’s ever experienced.

The cast also includes returning stars Rachel House (Moana’s grandmother Tala), Temuera Morrison (Moana’s father Chief Tui) and Nicole Scherzinger (Moana’s mother Sina), as well as the voices of Hualālai Chung, David Fane and Rose Matafeo as Moana’s new crew members Moni, Kele and Loto. Awhimai Fraser voices the mysterious new character Matangi; Gerald Ramsey plays Moana’s ancestor Tautai Vasa; and Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda lends her voice to Moana’s adoring and adorable little sister Simea.

“Mufasa: The Lion King” D23 Trailer

“Mufasa: The Lion King” chronicles the unlikely rise of the beloved King of the Pride Lands, and tasks Rafiki with passing on the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa contributing their signature tricks. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka – the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance encounter sets off an extended journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny – their bonds are tested as they work together to escape a menacing and deadly enemy.

While it wasn’t specifically revealed during the D23 Entertainment Showcase, we might as well include a first look at Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. The mashup of behind-the-scenes footage and a teaser trailer coincidentally aired on Disney Channel at the same time as the D23 presentation.

Get a first look at the newest Disney Channel series, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place! A first look at production was shown today during the Disney Channel premiere of Descendants: The Rise of Red. The feature features behind-the-scenes moments with the series’ main cast, including David Henrie and Janice LeAnn Brown, as well as executive producer and guest star Selena Gomez. Fans of the franchise may also spot a familiar face: David DeLuise, who returns as a guest star in the role of Russo family patriarch Jerry Russo.

Exclusive D23 trailers

In addition to the D23 trailers listed above, Disney has shown additional trailers or clips for Captain America: Brave New World, Fantastic Four, Iron Heart, The Mandalorian & Grogu, and Zootopia 2 in the room at D23, but has not posted the videos online.

The new Pixar films “Hoppers” and “The Incredibles 3” were announced for the first time – but without a trailer.

Other previously announced projects were discussed but no new trailers were revealed: “Andor” Season 2, “Avatar: Fire and Ashes,” “Daredevil: Born Again,” “Elio,” “Freakier Friday,” “Frozen 3,” “Toy Story 5,” and “Tron: Ares.”
