This is a spin that didn’t pay out.

“Wheel of Fortune” contestant Vivian Tran lost a $1 million prize in Monday night’s episode.

During Ryan Seacrest’s second week hosting the long-running game show, Tran missed a word during the puzzle.

“My heart is racing, this is a first for me,” said 49-year-old Seacrest during the bonus round. “You’re playing for $1 million.”

Tran also received a placeholder for another letter.

Seacrest, who replaced host Pat Sajak just a few weeks ago after his retirement, explained that the usual $100,000 envelope on the show had been replaced with a $1 million envelope.

Tran spun a small wheel containing the envelopes and randomly selected one.

The puzzle category was “What are you doing?” and Tran chose the letters C, H, M, I and P.

Wheel of Fortune co-host Vanna White then revealed the correct letters the player selected on the board and left the prompt, “_ _ _ ERING S _ ME HELP.”

Tran told Seacrest that she was “nervous” before making several attempts to solve the puzzle.

“You need help? You need help? You find help? You are looking for help? You are looking for help?”

The answer to the Wheel of Fortune puzzle was “Offer some help,” and Tran became frustrated and emotional because he couldn’t find the right sentence.

Seacrest revealed that her envelope contained the coveted $1 million prize, and Tran immediately put her head in her hands.

Although she missed out on the grand prize, she was still in good spirits as she took home $27,300 and a trip to Europe.

“The stakes are already higher than ever this season and it’s only Week 2,” read the caption beneath the clip on the official Wheel of Fortune Instagram account.

Fans flocked to the comments section to express their dismay at the loss, with one user writing: “I literally gasped when Ryan revealed to me she had the million,” while another chimed in: “So close but Vivian you did great anyway!!”

Following the show, the “Wheel of Fortune” player was interviewed by Sajak’s daughter Maggie about the incident.

Tran admitted that her mother had reservations about her participating in the show, but she proved otherwise by going home with some sort of prize and merit.

“It turned out great, a little painful, but I’m grateful for the opportunity,” she admitted.

She further explained, “I knew the last two words… but the first one… I couldn’t understand the syllables. It took 10 seconds, and when I got to the eighth second, I just thought, ‘Ugh,’ and I missed it.”

But followers on social media showed their support under the Instagram clip. One fan wrote: “WOOOO! There’s something special about the word ‘OUT’ and the envelope with the grand prize… Excellent work Vivian!!”

Maggie captioned her post, “Even though we wish we could see Vivian go home with a MILLION DOLLARS, she still did great tonight.”

The last “Wheel of Fortune” contestant to take home the $1 million prize was in 2014. However, in October 2021, former “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” star Melissa Joan Hart won the jackpot during an episode of “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.”
