BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Division 2 Athletics Directors Association has announced the recipients of the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards for 2023-24. A total of 123 Florida Tech athletic scholarship athletes received the award, with men’s soccer leading the way with 17 athletic scholarship athletes receiving the award.

The Academic Achievement Awards is a program that recognizes the academic achievements of Division II athletic scholarship students and has been in operation for 17 years.

As a conference, the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) received a total of 986 awards.

“The goal of this program since its inception has been to showcase the outstanding student-athletes, coaches and staff of our Division II landscape. We are fortunate to be able to recognize such deserving individuals each year,” said Mike McFarland, Bloomsburg University athletic director and current president of the D2 ADA.

“We couldn’t be more proud of the work these people put into their craft. Our industry will be a better place when these student-athletes go out into the real world.”

For the second consecutive year, more than 19,000 student-athletes (19,774) from 192 institutions have been recognized for the 2023-24 Academic Achievement Awards. This year’s total is the highest in the program’s history. A total of 167,396 student-athletes have been recognized since the awards program began in 2007-08.

To qualify for this award, the institution’s athletic director must be a current member of the D2 ADA and the athletic scholarship recipient must have an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher, have attended college for at least four semesters, and have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during the 2023-24 academic year.
