Commanders fans panic as prized rookie Jayden Daniels goes down in Giants game

Jayden Daniels was lying on the turf holding his ribs after taking a hard blow to the ribs from a New York Giants defender and had to leave the game after being examined by team doctors.

Jeff Driskel came into the game for one play in the second quarter as a replacement for Daniels.

The injury occurred after Daniels was trying to gain a first down on a 3rd-and-13 attempt and was hit and tackled by New York’s Deonte Banks.

On his first play back in the game, Daniels stood in the pocket and threw a completed pass to Terry McLaurin for a first down.

When Commanders fans saw Daniels’ injury, they panicked and one of them formed a “Jayden Daniels prayer circle” on X.

“Jayden Daniels needs to stop running around like a Cam Newton,” said one fan on X.

“Jayden Daniels, please slip, brother, you don’t have to take those hits,” said another Commanders supporter.

“Jayden Daniels protects the football better than himself,” added a Washington fan.

“It took Jayden Daniels a game and a quarter to take an incredibly unnecessary hit,” another person concluded.

Daniels is known for his one-two punch qualities as a quarterback, which helped him win the Heisman Trophy last year at LSU.

Daniels’ offensive line did him no favors against the Giants, allowing him to be sacked four times in the first half.
