After Swift’s endorsement, more voters vote against Harris than for her: poll

Maybe it’s not a real “love story” after all.

Taylor Swift’s support for Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, is likely to scare away more voters than attract them.

According to a new YouGov post-debate poll released Saturday, 8 percent of voters said the pop superstar’s endorsement would either “somewhat” or “much more” persuade them to vote for the Democrat.

But a full 20 percent said that after Swift’s speech they were “more likely” or “much less likely” to vote for former President Donald Trump’s opponent.

Most respondents (66 percent) said Swift’s support would not influence their voting behavior in November.

“I did my research and made my choice,” the Grammy winner told her 283 million followers in an Instagram post shortly after the debate on Tuesday evening.

“The research is yours, and the decision is yours.”

She called Harris a “level-headed, gifted leader” who can lead “with calm, not chaos.”

The majority (32 percent) of respondents to the online poll believe the move will have a positive impact on Harris’ campaign, while 27 percent said they believe it will have no effect whatsoever.

Forty-one percent – nearly 460 people – said the “Shake it Off” singer should not speak publicly about politics.

38 percent thought she should express her support publicly.

Sixty-six percent of survey respondents said they were not Swifties, while 28 percent said they were fans and 6 percent described themselves as big fans.

The majority of the “big fans” were women and registered Democrats.

Swift’s endorsement reportedly generated massive traffic on the voter registration website vote.gov by Wednesday afternoon.

A spokesperson said 337,826 visitors visited vote.gov after clicking on a custom link Swift shared on Instagram.

Overall, according to YouGov, 46% of respondents thought Harris won the debate, while 19% voted for Trump. But only 6% said the debate made them reconsider their vote. 76% said no.
