4 tips for the eyes

1. Attack of the Cowboys

Thanks to a dominating performance by the Cowboys’ defense and special teams, the offense was able to take its foot off the gas in Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns.

Quarterback Dak Prescott admitted that the offense “left a lot of meat on the bone” in the game against the Browns.

Ezekiel Elliott showed some skill in Week 1 with 10 runs for 40 yards and a touchdown.

We expect more questions to be asked about the Cowboys’ passing and running game on Sunday.

2. Contain the camera

Stopping run plays has been the weak point of Dallas’ defense over the past few seasons, but a newly formed group of linebackers shined in Mike Zimmer’s defense against Cleveland.

The Cowboys defense held the Browns running backs to 54 yards on the ground.

In the Saints’ game in Week 1, they overwhelmed the Panthers.

Saints runners Alvin Kamara and Jamaal Williams combined for 121 yards and two touchdowns.

Dallas knows the key to New Orleans’ offense is slowing down Kamara.

“It’s going to be a big challenge. He’s still one of the best running backs in this league. He’s struggled with injuries the last few years, but that’s the case with everyone. But so far he looks healthy. I’m looking forward to the challenge. It’s the first time I’ve faced this guy,” said Micah Parsons.

3. Can the Cowboys rookies continue to shine?

The Dallas Cowboys’ rookie starters put in a solid performance against the Browns.

Center Cooper Beebe didn’t allow any pressure against Cleveland’s strong defense in Week 1, and tackle Tyler Guyton held his own against one of the league’s best pass rushers, Myles Garrett.

The Browns threw nine times to Cowboys corner Caelen Carson, but the fifth-round pick only allowed two catches and intercepted two passes in his first game.

All three newcomers have to prove that they can perform in tight situations.

4. Brandon Aubrey – future record holder?

Cowboys fans were upset because Mike McCarthy did not allow kicker Brandon Aubrey to attempt a 71-yard field goal after his 66-yard attempt was disallowed due to a delay of game penalty.

Aubrey says 70 is within reach and with the roof of AT&T Stadium expected to be closed, conditions could never be better to try to break the NFL record of 66 yards.

Even though Aubrey isn’t after the record, his accuracy and leg strength are important weapons for the Cowboys.
