The annual rivalry game between Colorado and Colorado State was no longer a real contest after the first quarter. The Buffaloes outpaced the Rams, winning 29-9 at Colorado State in what doubled as a showcase for two promising wide receiver prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft.

For Colorado’s Travis Hunter, it was a night where he proved he’s a quality WR prospect and also the best cornerback prospect in the class right now. Hunter caught several balls from the sharp Shedeur Sanders (36 of 49, 310 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs) at quarterback, including a catch on the sideline far from his body where Hunter kept the ball out long after the play to show how easy he could make a difficult catch look, and he did it with both feet in the field.

Hunter, as always, was masterfully creative after the catch. A simple outside pivot that was too quick and too unexpected by the defense gave him an extra 10 yards on a catch-and-run. The 6’1″ Hunter finished the night with 13 catches for exactly 100 yards and two touchdowns. He was uninterrupted all night.

It was a rough night for fellow CSU player Horton. He was ineffective early on before leaving the game in the second quarter after suffering a leg injury that made his participation in the game questionable. It’s an unfortunate coincidence for Horton, as he loses his biggest stage to showcase himself. At the 2023 meet, Horton established himself as a Day 2 candidate with a monster performance: 16 catches, 133 yards, 2 TDs. On Saturday night, Horton caught two passes for 24 yards before leaving the game.
