Georgia’s starter Tate Ratledge is carried off the field against Kentucky

Georgia went into Saturday’s SEC road game against Kentucky as the best team in the country and a three-touchdown favorite, but midway through the second quarter the Wildcats were leading 3-0.

The Bulldogs offense struggled to get into rhythm all night, and now they have a more serious problem.

With about 8 minutes left in the half, UGA starting OL Tate Ratledge had to be carried off the field after suffering an apparent leg injury. When he reached the sideline, he was immediately taken to the locker room.

Ratledge was the Bulldogs’ right guard in all three games of the 2024 season. He was replaced by Micah Morris, who brought plenty of experience playing in 13 of UGA’s 14 games last season, mostly as a substitute.

With 6 minutes left in the second quarter, Georgia has only gained 51 yards on offense and only 3 first downs on the night. The Bulldogs have converted just 1 of their 4 third down attempts.

The Wildcats threatened to score, but Georgia forced a fumble with just under 5 minutes left in the second quarter, giving the Bulldogs a great scoring opportunity. But once again, the Wildcats defense held firm and forced UGA to settle for a field goal, leaving the score tied 3-3 after 2 minutes.

Kentucky suffered a brutal 31-6 loss to South Carolina at home last week, so it would obviously be a huge surprise if the Wildcats found a way to win.
