Apple TV+ is slowly but surely building a prestigious range of original series, with Slow horses as one of the outstanding. The fourth season of the series is in the works and a fifth has already been approved by Apple for January 2024. The Americans (2013–2018)

While fans may not like the dark, sarcastic humor of Slow horses in FX The Americansthey are kept on the edge of their seats by the drama. Directed by showrunners Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields, the series is set during the tensions of the Cold War and focuses on two Soviet KGB agents.

Jack Ryan (2018–2023)

Author Tom Clancy paved the way for a lucrative multimedia franchise that included films, video games and television shows. For the latter, Amazon Prime Video Jack Ryan was the most recent hit in the franchise. This adaptation, created by Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland, sees The office And A quiet place with John Krasinski as the titular agent in a series of deadly field missions.

Once a CIA analyst working quietly behind a desk, Jack’s life is thrown into disarray when he uncovers several suspicious bank transfers. Jack Ryan certainly relies more heavily on its action thriller elements, but spy fans will find plenty of excitement in the Prime Video original. Even without reinventing the genre wheel, Jack Ryan is enhanced by a convincing leading role from Krasinski, exciting action scenes and political intrigue.

Bodyguard (2018)

Originally written by Jed Mercurio for the BBC, Bodyguard is one of the best spy thrillers available to stream. The six-episode miniseries includes game of Thrones Starring Richard Madden as Police Sergeant David Budd, a British Afghanistan war veteran.

Budd is tasked with personally protecting Home Secretary Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes) – even though he detests her war policy. Bodyguard is overall one of the most compelling miniseries on Netflix, offering a well-paced and dramatic story that justifies its short runtime. The controversial politics and tense dynamic between Madden and Hawes’ characters are palpable off-screen as well, all bolstered by a terrorist plot that never fails to captivate.
