“Civil War” makes its streaming debut this week on Max

Civil War– writer-director Alex Garland’s dystopian look at a shattered future America starring Kirsten Dunst – is new on Max this week.

After witnessing deadly riots in New York, three veteran journalists – war photographer Lee Smith (Kirsten Dunst) and reporters Joel (Wagner Moura) and Sammy (Stephen McKinley Henderson) – embark on a harrowing journey to Washington, D.C. The group has one goal in mind: to interview and photograph the president before Western forces attempt to overthrow the commander in chief in the White House.

The script by screenwriter and director Alex Garland is unique in that Civil War does not take political sides in the film nor does he mention the Democratic or Republican Party.

At the film’s premiere in April, Nick Offerman dispelled any prejudices about his role as president, saying his portrayal was not based on former president and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
