FAYETTEVILLE – The Arkansas football team is in for a surprise battle with UAB.
A sloppy start saw the Razorbacks fall behind by two touchdowns in the first quarter, but the Hogs recovered and were tied 20-20 with the Blazers at halftime.
Bobby Petrino’s offense has racked up 140 yards on the ground in the first two quarters, but Taylen Green was 3 of 14 passing for just 52 yards and an interception. Green and Braylen Russell each had a touchdown run, while Kyle Ramsey made two field goals.
UAB has great success attacking Doneiko Slaughter in the slot and Jacob Zeno is 11 of 15 for 131 yards and two touchdowns.

Second quarter
- Two consecutive pass interference penalties put Arkansas in UAB territory, but the offense stalled before Ramsey’s field goal. The long kick is a great sign for Ramsey after last week’s struggles, and the score is 20-20 with 1:03 left in the first half.
- The Blazers gain 70 yards in eight plays, but are kept out of the end zone by the Hogs. UAB leads 20-17 with 1:53 left in the first half.
- Green used his long strides to round the corner on the left side, evade several UAB defenders and stumble to the goal. The Hogs have erased a two-touchdown deficit and the score is 17-17 with 4:48 left in the first half.
- Russell pounces and cuts the deficit to 17-10 with 9:17 minutes left in the first half. The Hogs marched 75 yards in 12 plays and converted a big fourth and one in two plays before Russell’s touchdown. The defense needs a stop now
- Arkansas’ nightmare start continues, the Blazers win 17-3. Doneiko Slaughter couldn’t keep up with Thomas on a slant route and the Hogs are in big trouble.
First quarter
- UAB attempted an onside kick, but the Hogs were prepared. However, they were unable to capitalize on the good field position and only scored three points.
- Reynolds Razorback Stadium is stunned as the Blazers lead 10-0 with 6:06 left in the first quarter. UAB capitalizes on Green’s interception for an instant point.
- Green’s second pass of the game is intercepted by UAB’s Michael Moore and returned to the Arkansas 15-yard line. Center Addison Nichols was injured on the play and needed assistance leaving the field. He is in the injury tent.
- Arkansas had some tackling issues and the Blazers were successful up the middle on a 15-play drive that ended with a short field goal. UAB took a 3-0 lead with 7:33 left in the first quarter.
- UAB wins the coin toss and elects to receive the ball. The Hogs’ defense will open this home game.
