SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. – Freshman Elizabeth Mercer finished the opening round of the Cardinal Cup at the University of Louisville Golf Course with a score of two over par to lead the University of Evansville women’s golf team.
Results of the first round
Mercer shot a 2-over 74 to lead the Purple Aces. Her 2-over score puts her at 18th Place after the first of three rounds. Mallory Russell finished Friday’s round with a 77. She is 5 over par and has a score of 36.th.
Next up was Louise Standtke for UE. The first-year student scored 78 points and was ranked 50th.th Position. She was followed by Kate Petrova, who scored a 79. Petrova isthDestynie Sheridan shot a 99 in the first 18 holes.
Rutgers leads the team score. The Scarlet Knights posted a team score of 291, finishing the day third ahead of Middle Tennessee State and sixth ahead of a third-place tie between Louisville and Western Kentucky. Evansville is in 12th place.th Place, just one behind Coastal Carolina and two behind the pace of 10th-Location Cincinnati.
Rutgers’ Grace Lu leads the individual standings with a 3-under-par 69, one stroke ahead of WKU’s Catie Craig. The teams are back on track for the second round on Saturday.
