A flood warning is in effect for Cobb County and other counties in north-central Georgia for Thursday, September 12. The National Weather Service has also issued a wind advisory for Cobb and several other nearby counties.

What does the Flood Watch statement say?

The following text comes from the flood warning:

This hazardous weather forecast applies to parts of northern and central Georgia.

.DAY ONE…Today and tonight…

A flood warning is in effect today until Friday evening for

Parts of western Georgia. Locally heavy rainfall is possible

as tropical moisture spreads across the area tonight, which

can lead to flooding and flash floods.

A wind warning is in effect today until Friday morning

for parts of northern Georgia. Wind gusts up to 35 MPH with

Isolated gusts near 40 mph are possible.

There is a brief, isolated risk of tornadoes this afternoon

into tonight, mainly in the areas west of the I-75 corridor.

.DAYS TWO TO SEVEN…Friday to Wednesday…

Heavy rainfall is possible at times from Friday to Sunday.

Sunday, which will lead to further flash flooding and flooding

Issue.

An isolated, short tornado threat remains possible, especially

for areas of western Georgia west of I-75 on Friday.
