Adele fans are wondering how long is “unbelievably long” after the Grammy-winning pop sensation announced her planned hiatus last week.
“I need a break,” she announced from a stage in Munich, where she ended her last residency on Saturday. “I’ve spent the last seven years building a new life for myself and I want to live it now.”
While this may mean a hiatus from the music scene for the foreseeable future, fans may not have to wait forever to hear more from the “Someone like You” icon – albeit possibly in a different medium.
A source close to the singer, whose fortune is estimated at over $220 million, told the Daily Mail She has had her eye on a trip to the big screen for a long time.
“Adele has been taking intensive acting lessons from a top Hollywood coach for over a year (…) When she commits to something, she gives it 100 percent,” the source said, adding that the pop star has apparently already “instructed” her assistants to “get the word out” that she is interested in new film projects.
Adele is apparently also seeking advice from established industry figures for her future career change. “A well-informed source in Hollywood has advised her to take dialect lessons if she hasn’t already, as her natural Cockney accent will severely limit her roles,” a source told the Email.
The singer of “Rolling in the Deep” has previously expressed interest in a career in film, for example in an interview with The Hollywood ReporterShe told the publication at the time that there was a film she really wanted to be a part of, but that the writer of the script was “not mentally ready” to get started right away.
“I bug (the writer) about it every now and then, but he’s just not ready yet,” she said. “But that’s the only role I ever want. Because I think I could do it. I think I’d be really, really good at it.”
What kind of roles the “Rumour Has It” singer might have her eye on is currently a mystery, although she had previously turned down the prospect of playing a singer because it would be “too obvious.”
