As part of a recent series of contract extensions for quarterbacks, the Miami Dolphins agreed to a new four-year contract with Tua Tagovailoa in July.

The Hawaii-born quarterback was selected number 5 in the 2020 NFL Draft and has been a starter for the Dolphins since 2021. He made his first Pro Bowl appearance in 2023 and led the league in passing yards during the regular season.

That performance has prompted the Dolphins to secure his services with a new contract that puts him on par with some of the NFL’s highest-earning players. The four-year contract extension is a package worth up to 212 million US dollarswith $167.2 million in guaranteed money.

The deal gives Tagovailoa a average annual salary of $53.1 millionwith a signing bonus of $42 million.
