Al Michaels misses James Cook’s touchdown on Thursday Night Football

Someone get Al Michaels a macchiato.

Al “Sleepy” Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit return to commentate on games for Amazon Prime Video on Thursday night, and Michaels is clearly past bedtime down in South Beach.

An explosive duel between AFC East opponents Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins began with a 17-yard catch-and-run by Buffalo’s James Cook.

The viewers at home saw the clear path for Cook and felt the jolt of the Bills’ offense.

Meanwhile, 79-year-old Michaels dragged himself through the entire move.

This is not what you want to see from a live commentator in prime time… As football fans, we naturally hope for an exciting broadcast that does justice to the energy of this exchange.

Wake up, Al!

REGARD:

Only Michaels can make a touchdown sound like a one-yard run. He could slip us.

The legendary broadcaster also spoke out in favor of the use of artificial intelligence in today’s world, but apparently forgot that he himself benefited from the trend by allowing Peacock to use an AI “likeness” at the Olympics.

Michaels’ lethargic call prompted NFL fans to take to social media to demand Al’s resignation.

Is Al officially clean?

“I know Al Michaels is a legend but he makes me sleepy,” commented one fan on X.

Some fans objected to the hostility toward Michaels.

“Don’t understand the hate for Al Michaels,” another fan responded to X.

Don’t get us wrong – Michaels still has it, but maybe it’s time to hang up the cleats.
