2024 Presidential Election – NBC 6 South Florida

Shortly after the first presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and his Vice President Kamala Harris, many Floridians are wondering how they can ensure they are ready to vote.

Voting is easy, safe and an important part of the democratic process. You can find a sample ballot here.

Here you can find out everything you need to know about voting.

Remember: Election day is Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

How do I register to vote?

  • Deadline: 7 October
  • Eligibility: Must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen. Individuals convicted of a crime or found mentally incapable of voting and whose civil rights have not been restored are not allowed to vote.

There are several ways to register to vote. The easiest way is to do so online at this link. If you are not sure if you are registered, you can also check your status.

You can also complete this form and submit it in person or by mail.

How can I cast my vote?

Once you are registered to vote in Florida, there are three ways you can cast your vote.

BY POST

You can request a mail-in ballot, which you can then fill out and drop off (in a designated drop box at your county’s election supervisor’s office or at an early voting location) or mail back when you are ready.

However, there are important dates you should keep an eye on:

  • Deadline for applying for a postal vote: October 24th.
  • Deadline for returning a postal ballot: The ballot must receiveregardless of the postmark, to the office of the returning officer by 7 p.m. on election day at the latest.

For information on where to drop off or mail your absentee ballot, click here if you live in Miami-Dade County and here if you live in Broward County.

ON ELECTION DAY

If you plan to vote in person on November 5, you must report to your polling place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Anyone in line until 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

VOTE EARLY

Early voting is also possible, but the exact dates vary by county. It’s a good option for those who want to vote in person and avoid lines.

In Miami-Dade County, you can vote early in person from October 26 to November 2.

In Broward County, you can vote early in person from October 21 to November 3.
