Addison Rae’s white bralette look at the 2024 VMAs was “a little bit Madonna-inspired”

While red carpets generally follow a sleek fashion dictum, the MTV VMAs are different. Since its very first edition in 1984, the event has honored musicians and adopted an unusual style. From Britney Spears’ look with a snake as an accessory to Lady Gaga’s iconic meat dress, the red carpet at this event allowed for creativity and even eccentricity in terms of fashion choices. Judging by the style seen at the 2024 MTV VMAs, it doesn’t seem like that has changed too much. Among all the dramatic looks on the red carpet, Addison Rae definitely caught everyone’s attention.

Fresh from the release of her music single Diet Pepsi Last month, the singer and influencer chose a red carpet look that received polarizing reviews on social media. In a custom look created by Miss Claire Sullivan, Addison wore an ivory bralette with horizontally padded bust. She paired it with high-waisted panties to match her mostly underwear-based look. To add flair, she wore a tiered white tutu skirt draped around her hips and back, with feathers accentuating the straps of her bralette and the back of her skirt. Speaking to MTV, Addison said her look had “a little bit of ‘Diet Pepsi’ and a little bit of Madonna.”

Her ombre-toned brunette locks were swept up in curls at the side of her face, resulting in fairly minimal red carpet makeup and berry-colored lips. Jewelry was also understated, with only a belly button piercing visible, and she completed the look with satin peep-toe pumps in the same shade.

This was one red carpet appearance that certainly couldn’t be ignored.
