Travis Kelce subtly showed his support to his girlfriend Taylor Swift after she thanked him at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end liked an Instagram video the broadcaster posted in which the “Blank Space” singer raves about him while accepting the Video of the Year award at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.
“ONLY one person is cheering for @taylorswift louder than me and that’s @killatrav #VMAs,” MTV captioned the post.
Swift, 34, sent her fans into a frenzy when she gave Kelce, also 34, a special shout-out on stage – and publicly referred to him as her “boyfriend” for the first time.
“I always heard someone cheering across the studio from where we were shooting (the music video for ‘Fortnight’),” she recalls, proudly holding her Moon Person trophy.
“And that one person was my friend Travis,” she said as the crowd roared. “Everything that man touches turns into happiness and fun and magic, and I want to thank him for bringing that to our shoot because I’ll never forget that.”
Kelce was not present for the speech as Page Six had previously reported that he had to stay in Kansas City, Missouri, to practice with his team ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
However, the athlete cheered Swift on by encouraging her to “stay on top” on Wednesday’s episode of his podcast “New Heights.”
The “Cruel Summer” singer had quite the night, making history by becoming the artist with the most VMA wins, taking home seven awards this year for a whopping 30 career total.
Swift walked the red carpet alone in a yellow and black checked bustier and statement skirt by Dior, which she paired with black velvet shorts, black strappy leather gloves, a necklace and black over-the-knee boots.
After accepting her first award for best collaboration with Post Malone for their song “Fortnight,” Swift slipped into a short, silver and green sequin dress with a UFO image embroidered in the center.
She seemed to be having a lot of fun throughout the show, dancing to Katy Perry’s performance and posing for photos with other artists.
Swift and Kelce, who have been together for over a year, were last seen at the US Open in New York City over the weekend, where they showed each other affection and also attended a wedding and had a meal.
