Several artists appeared to reference pop icon Britney Spears at last night’s 2024 VMAs, including Sabrina Carpenter – who showed up at the after-party at Electric Lady Studios in a see-through lace minidress (1996 Gucci by Tom Ford of Tab Vintage!) that was atmospherically reminiscent of Britney’s iconic nude dress at the 2001 VMAs.

Meanwhile, Sabrina’s red carpet dress was a direct nod to Madonna’s grand entrance at the 1991 Oscars (which in turn was a nod to Marilyn Monroe). In fact, Sabrina wore Madonna’s exact vintage Bob Mackie dress, also from Tab Vintage.
Sabrina won her first ever VMA (Song of the Year Award for “Espresso”) last night and gave a sweet speech saying, “I’ve literally never won one of these before. This is really special. The first people I want to thank are the fans. If you clap after everything I say, they’re going to call me off the stage, so hold on a minute. But I just want to say that you guys are the reason I get to do what I love, but also the reason we get to have so much fun and share music together. And I’m just so grateful to have the best, truly best fans in the world. I know it sounds cheesy, but I love you guys.”
