Donald Trump ally Laura Loomer is under fire for a post about Kamala Harris’ Indian heritage that was called “racist.” The post, which contains cultural stereotypes, was shared by Loomer in response to a post Harris made about visiting her grandparents in India as a child.

In Harris’ post, the vice president wrote that as a young girl, her grandfather would take her on morning walks when she visited her grandparents in India and “talk to her about the importance of fighting for equality and fighting corruption.” Harris’ grandfather was a retired civil servant who was “involved in the movement for Indian independence,” she wrote.

“My grandmother traveled throughout India, megaphone in hand, to speak to women about access to contraception. Her commitment to public service and fight for a better future lives on in me today,” Harris added in the Grandparents Day post.

Laura Loomer’s contribution criticized as “racist”

Right-wing activist Loomer shared Harris’ post, writing: “If @KamalaHarris wins, the White House will smell like curry and White House speeches will be delivered through a call center and the American people will only be able to provide feedback via a customer satisfaction survey at the end of the call that no one will understand.”

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia immediately took to X to rebuke Loomer for the “racist” post. “This is appalling and extremely racist. It does not represent who we are as Republicans or MAGA,” Greene wrote. “This does not represent President Trump. This behavior should never be tolerated. @LauraLoomer should remove this.”

Several netizens also criticized Loomer in the comments section. One said, “This is very racist.” “Ok, very unnecessary and racist. You are not helping Trump at all,” one user wrote, while another said, “Why do you always have to resort to racism? You are not helping with anything stupid.” One user wrote, “Hey Laura, your racism is obvious… and that is one of the many reasons Trump will lose… supporters like you!” Another said, “Damn that is a really racist statement. That is a bad image.”

Harris’ mother, the late Shyamala Gopalan, was of Indian-American descent. Her father, Donald Harris, is of Jamaican-American descent. Gopalan, who was of Tamil-Indian-American descent, died in 2009. Harris has always identified as both black and Indian, acknowledging both parents’ heritage as part of her identity.
