Los Angeles-based Sean Wotherspoon has earned a reputation as one of America’s most notable designers, having been commissioned to design products for everyone from Adidas to Vespa to Nike. About four years ago, Wotherspoon took a break from designing sneakers and streetwear to collaborate with Porsche on what would become the SW Taycan Art Car.

And today, in the present, Wotherspoon has once again teamed up with the Stuttgart brand, this time to create a unique, individually designed 911 Dakar together with Ferdinand “Ferry” Ahorner.

The background story

Rather than working with Porsche’s design team, this one-off piece was created in collaboration between the Los Angeles-based designer and Ferdinand “Ferry” Ahorner, a member of the Porsche founding family. And while it was designed by Ahorner and Wotherspoon, the one-off project was brought to life by Porsche Exclusive.

PTS painting

After reaching out to Wotherspoon, the two began designing this one-off 911 variant. Wotherspoon and Ahorner decided to give the car a custom “Nashy Blue” paint job. This light blue shade, named after Wotherspoon’s son Nash, was originally introduced as one of the two new Paint To Sample colors the designer created for Porsche in late May.

This PTS colour is now available as an upgrade option for the 992.2 generation 911 as well as the 718 and Taycan ranges and has been complemented by a set of five-spoke wheels in glossy white, matching the white “Porsche” lettering that adorns the sides of the car.

The interior

The cabin of the vehicle is painted in Crayon, upholstered in cream-colored leather, and the door panels and seat inserts are decorated with the so-called “Sally Pepita” pattern – a specially woven pattern that was first used on the Porsche 911 Sally Special, which featured Sally Carrera from Pixar’s Cars brought to life.

First hand

“Ferry wanted to use the Nashy Blue that I developed with Porsche and that’s how the specification began,” explains Wotherspoon. “We considered every part, from the stitching to the wheels. This really is a 1 of 1 Dakar.”
